Learn how to create and activate a custom Klaviyo email flow tailored for shipping notifications and other automated actions. This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.
Getting Started
Navigate to Flows:
In your Klaviyo account’s main navigation sidebar on the left, click on Flows.
Next, click the “Create Flow” button.
Choose Your Flow Type:
While Klaviyo offers existing flow templates, this guide focuses on building your own flow for full customization.
Build Your Own Flow
Assign a Name and Tag:
Give your flow a descriptive name and tag. For example:
Name: LS Return Initiated
Tag: LateShipment Returns Notification
Select the Flow Creation Method:
Klaviyo provides two options: Create with AI and Create Manually.
Click Create Manually to access the builder for custom triggers and flow actions.
Set Your Trigger:
Under Select Trigger, you’ll find three options: Recommended, Your Metrics, and All Triggers.
Click on All Triggers, navigate to Metric, and search for the specific metric you want to use for your flow.
Example: For this guide, select the metric LS-Return Initiated.
Once selected, click Save and confirm your trigger.
Pick a Template
Add the Email Action:
In the left-hand navigation bar of the flow builder, find Email under the list of actions.
Drag and drop it into your flow.
Select a Template:
Click on the email action (titled Email #1 by default) to open Email Details.
Scroll down to the Template section and click Select Template.
Choose a pre-saved template for your flow, such as LS Return Initiated.
Once selected, click Use Template, then Exit to return to the flow.
Fill in the Details
Rename and Customize:
Rename Email #1 and add a relevant subject line that reflects the flow's purpose.
Example: "Your Return Has Been Initiated"
Transactional Settings:
Before activating your flow, navigate to Email Details.
Scroll down to find the Transactional section.
Click Apply Transactional and submit the email for review.
Why? This setting ensures non-promotional messages like shipping updates bypass marketing filters, significantly boosting open rates.
Review and Activate:
Once your email receives transactional status, select Review and Turn On.
Change the action status to Live.
Finally, click Turn On to activate your flow.
And don’t forget to log in to your LateShipment.com account and activate the respective flows that you’ve enabled in Klaviyo.
That’s It!
You’ve successfully created and activated a custom Klaviyo email flow for shipping notifications. Your customers will now receive personalized updates seamlessly.
