What is covered in LateShipment.com Insurance offering?
LateShipment.com Insurance provides coverage for loss, damage, and shortage of packages during transit. 


What items can I insure?
LateShipment.com Insurance offers coverage for most commodities, though we do have certain exclusions and conditions. If you're shipping an item that falls under our excluded list, please reach out to us as we might be able to provide coverage. However, we recommend reviewing the coverage conditions before insuring your shipments.

 

Is coverage provided worldwide?
Our coverage is worldwide for customers with open coverage, originating from the United States. However, coverage excludes shipments to certain destinations. Excluded countries include Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Burma, Congo, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire), Liberia, Nigeria, North Korea, Paraguay, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Venezuela. Additionally, any location violating U.S. economic or trade sanctions, including OFAC Restricted Countries, is not covered. For shipments to countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States, coverage ends upon aircraft touchdown or discharge from the overseas vessel at the destination port. This means coverage ceases if a package is scanned into these countries.

 

Do I have to do anything different with the customs form?
There's no need to make changes to your customs form. Our exclusions do not apply to shipments with proper customs declarations. We recommend including accurate customs information as required.

 

What shipping carriers can I use?
LateShipment.com Insurance's coverage is available for nearly all shipping carriers. This includes carriers like FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, consolidators, Yellow, SAIA, and most common carriers. Contact us to confirm coverage for your preferred carrier.

 

Are there any packaging requirements?
Packages must be adequately packaged to withstand typical transit conditions and meet or exceed shipping carrier packaging standards. Refer to your coverage certificate for specific packaging conditions.


What does the exclusion for "cotton" allude to?
The "cotton" exclusion pertains to raw cotton. However, merchandise made from cotton, such as clothing, is covered by our insurance.


When do I purchase the coverage?
LateShipment.com Insurance coverage is typically purchased between 4-6 hours after generating a shipping label and having access to the tracking and customs details of your package.

 

Are my packages marked as insured?
Not at all! One of the advantages of insuring with LateShipment.com Insurance is that your packages are shipped without any visible indication of insurance. This discreet packaging approach ensures your shipments remain inconspicuous and don't draw unnecessary attention.

 

How do I stop insuring with the carrier?
To discontinue insuring with the carrier, simply refrain from recording a 'declared' or 'insured value' when shipping. There's no need to inform the carrier that your package is insured through another means. The process remains transparent to the carrier.

 

What type of proof of mailing do I need?
For us to provide coverage for your package, it's important to demonstrate that the package was indeed sent. Mere application of a stamp or using a meter machine is not considered acceptable proof of mailing. We would look for evidence that the insured package was physically introduced into the mailing system through a receipt from the post office featuring an acceptance stamp, a tracking number with an acceptance scan, a customs number with an acceptance scan, or a stamped document from the post office indicating acceptance.
